		<description>Erin,
Impressive notes: insightful and in-depth.
One of my observations is that it was interesting to see how competitors could sit in the same room and share insights. It was good for the industry and ultimately for each company. As I mentioned in my class (Building Software Products: From Strategy to Sales: http://continuingstudies.stanford.edu/course/BUS100.asp) these type of forums are invaluable to understand the market / competitive landscape.
Also, I think that anyone who is doing community based financial sites (and that is what most of the new companies seems to be doing) should look at Credit Unions of 50 years ago. However the big question is how to create that sense of community and trust online that was created by the workers/communities who formed credit unions.

		<description>Erin -
Great notes, thank you, and I&#039;m glad I found your blog, good stuff, it&#039;s in my Google Reader.
I especially echo your point that &quot;Big banks are not motivated to challenge the status quo as they are profiting from today&#039;s environment.&quot; - there is innovation to be had, but most of the established players are not pushing the envelope, and not ready for the 21st century.
There are a few general notes on my blog for folks who are not familiar with BarCamps if any of your readers might be interested.
